Delays & Cancellations
St. Thomas More School follows Bethel Park School
District delay and cancellation decisions. For example: Bethel Park
School District has a 2-hour delay; therefore, STM has a 2-hour delay.
St. Thomas More School delays and cancellations will be
listed on KDKA radio & TV
Channel 2. You may also look for the Bethel Park School
District listing on all TV channels for information.
The school phone message will be changed to reflect the delay information
for the day.
Parents should follow the delay or cancellation decisions
of their residence school district. For example: If Peters Township
has a 2-hour delay and Bethel Park does not, STM students residing in
Peters Township will arrive 2 hours after the regular start of school.
No one will be marked tardy on delay days!
Emergency Closings and Delays
Because of the number of public districts represented in our school, it is important that you listen for an announcement that identifies St. Thomas More School. The principal will change the recorded phone message to reflect the emergency information. Further, the school phone system will broadcast an informational call to all school families who are registered on the phone system.
PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE RECTORY FOR DELAY INFORMATION.
Parents and/or guardians should not drop children at the school before the delayed starting time as personnel is not available to receive or monitor children.
Do not take risks by driving your child to school. Safety first, school second!!
Delay Day Menu may need to change because of limited preparation time.
Emergency Dismissals
In the event that we would be required to dismiss school early, that information will be announced on local television stations and will be sent to families through the school phone system. However, because phone service may be interrupted in the school, some emergency situations may not allow for this option. Children will be dismissed as parents are notified and transportation is arranged or will be dismissed at the regular time by bus.
