Report Cards
Students in the Kindergarten program receive an individual report of progress in January and June of the school year.Students in grades 1 - 8 are issued an individual report of their progress every nine weeks during the school year.
Parents should review their child's report of progress, sign the back and return the progress card to the homeroom teacher within three (3) days. Parents are encouraged to contact their child's teacher with any questions about grading or progress.
Parents will be informed when a a child's academic progress is slipping. Teachers will call, email or write to the child's parent/guardian so that academic problems can be remedied quickly. In addition, parents/guardians of students in grades 4 - 8 receive Progress Notices 4 times each year at the middle of each grading quarter to inform parents/guardians of potential academic problems or of academic successes.
1st quarter grading period ends on October 29, 2010
1st quarter report cards will be distributed on November 4, 2010
2nd quarter grading period ends on January 13, 2011.
2nd quarter report cards will be distributed on January 19, 2011.
3rd quater grading period ends on March 28, 2011
3rd quarter report cards will be distributed on March 30, 2011
4th quarter grading period ends on June 2, 2011
4th quarter report cards will be distributed on June 7, 2011
Grade 8 report cards will be mailed to each student's
home.
Progress Notices
Interim progress notices are sent at the mid-point of each quarterly grading period. Parents will be informed of student progress that is (a) below expectation, (b) below average, (c) improving or (d) exceptional. Interim grade reports are to be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the student’s teacher(s) within three days. Further if necessary, progress notices may be sent to a student’s home at any time during the grading period.
Honor Roll
The Diocese of Pittsburgh gives each school the option of instituting an honor roll. The St. Thomas More School honor roll recognizes students in grades 5 through 8 who display superior academic achievement during each nine-week period. Students in grade 4 can qualify for honor roll during the third and fourth quarters of their 4th grade year. Students qualify for High Honors and Honors by reaching a predetermined QPA each quarter.
